PS PLUS: Games for March & Important Update

As Spring comes, another month of PS PLUS games roll in with an important update.

Award-winning action RPG Bloodborne and beloved classic Ratchet & Clank is offered during the month of March.

Bloodborne
Hunt your nightmares as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

Ratchet and Clank
Get acquainted (or reacquainted) with some of the greatest heroes in PlayStation history. Based on elements from the original Ratchet & Clank (PS2), Ratchet & Clank brings Insomniac’s classic, out-of-this-world-gameplay to the PS4. Join Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and their new friends as they battle to save the Solana Galaxy. Armed with an arsenal of original weapons the franchise is renowned for, including the new Pixelizer and fan-favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron, you’ll explore the galaxy and get a deeper look at the origin story of these two beloved characters.

The following games are offered as well:

  • Legend of Kay, PS3
  • Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)

Fans of Dungeon Defenders II are in for a treat this month. Dungeon Defenders PS Plus Pack would be from March 13 to April 10 for PS Plus members. This pack contains 4 Shadow Costumes, 1 Million in gold, 5 Campaign Shard Packs, 5 Defender Packs, and a Ninja Gato Pet.

Announced today, the PS Plus monthly lineup will no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles starting next year March 8, 2019, and will focus more on PS4 titles. In their statement they reassured consumers that this won’t affect any games they’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019 and will be playable as long as you’re a member of the PS Plus subscription. Game saves/DLC would all remain the same as well and the only change is that “no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.

For clarification on the numbers, Polygon reached out, and a PlayStation representative replied that “Sony will continue to offer two PS4 games per month — and no other free titles.” That means subscribers will be losing two-thirds of the current monthly total.

Sony ends their statement with:

“Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world,” said Sony, as a way of explaining its decision. Sony launched the PS3 in November 2006, and the Vita in February 2012 in North America. And it’s nice to see the company providing a year’s notice on the platforms’ retirement from PlayStation Plus.

“We’ll continue to prioritize the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, online game save storage, PS4 monthly games, and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services,” Sony added
